Intergroup for Traditional National Minorities, Constitutional Regions and Regional Languages
Our Intergroup is dealing with topics related to autochthonous and national minorities and regional or minority languages. It has already been functioning throughout several parliamentary terms, with the obvious success of keeping the topic on the European political agenda. László Surján joins the Intergroup on Bioetics
Established in 2004, the intergroup would like to continue also this parliamentary term in the work aimed at better understanding of important bioethical topics. Meeting scientists, doctors, experts, NGO representatives and discussing controversies brought about by progress in biotechnology and medicine will contribute to better understanding of many relevant nowaday´s questions. Intergroup on Bioethics will create a platform to exchange views on such topics as allocation of scarce health resources, organ donation, transplantation, advanced therapies, cloning, doping, cultural and moral background of medicinal progress, FP 7 implications etc. more



Intergroup on Family, Children's Rights and Solidarity between the Generations
László Surján joined the EP Intergroup on "Family, Children's Rights and Solidarity between the Generations" and supports the renewal of this important Intergroup for the new legislative period 2009-2014. Under the highly effective presidency of Marie Panayotopoulos-Cassioutou (HE), this Intergroup developed a respected and influential role during the previous parliamentary term. Our common goal is to supply the decision-making process of the European institutions regarding, in particular, the policies of the demographic challenge, of social cohesion and poverty alleviation, of conciliation between family life and professional ambitions, children's rights and of solidarity between the generations. Experts, representatives of civil society, Members of the European Parliament and representatives of the European institutions all were strongly involved in the last mandate. These issues remain, and we want to ensure that the momentum is not lost. more

In each year on 23rd October Hungarians remember and celebrate the heroism of freedom fighters of 1956 who fought against the communist regime and wanted a free and democratic Hungary. However on 23rd October 2007 we also need to remember for those events which took place in 2006 on the 50th anniversary of 1956 revolution. more
